The product line of antibacterial plastics
MAKARIELL has been extended with Thermoplastic
Elastomeres. These materials in the product
series TPE MAKARIELL are manufactured on the
basis of TPE SEBS with adhesion to PP in 2 shot
moulds

MAKALEST
As an extension to the existing product line TPV
MAKALEST MAURER Kunststofftechnik GmbH has
developed a modified TPV compound (TPV MAKALEST
CGP series) for adhesion to PC and PC/ABS. This
series provides in general a very good adhesion
in coinjection moulding.

14.08.2006 TPV MAKALEST thermoplastic
vulcanizates
MAURER Kunststofftechnik GmbH have extended
their present product line TPE MAKALEST,
thermoplastic elastomers, with the new released
thermoplastic vulcanizates. They will be offered
under the trade name TPV MAKALEST.
Wheras the TPE´s of the current MAKALEST line
are based on Styrol-Block-Copolymeres (SBS-SEBS),
the new TPV´s are homogenous blends of a rubber
(EPDM/PP) showing an island matrix morphology
with a better temperature- and oil constancy.
Consequenzes of this improved temperature
constancy are a lot of using possibilities for
TPV MAKALEST especially in the automotive
sec-tor where high temperature constancy is
required under the bonnet.
TPV MAKALEST can be used for injection moulding
and for extrusion. There are also some types
available for blow moulding. Good adhesion is
existing to Polyamide. The hardness range varies
from 40 Shor A to 60 Shore D.
With this new TPV´s, MAURER Kunststofftechnik
GmbH shows an consistent expansion of the
already existing TPE MAKALEST series. As a
result from this expansion, beside the already
realized applications in the automotive-, food-
and household field, new possibilities were
offered to the customer which where practically
unrealizeable a few years ago.

New in the product family of MAURER
Kunststofftechnik GmbH are antibacterial
plastics. An antibacterial equipment of plastics
prevents or delays the growth of micro organism
on the plastics and achieves therefore a
valueable contribution to improve the hygienic
standards in our life. These special plastics
have a wide range of use and are especially for
thermoplastic polymers with food contact.
The additive used in MAKARIELL is a new-type
antibacterial active ingredient with a broad
range of action based on silver. With the use of
a unique glass ceramic carrier, it is possible
to doubling the efficiency yield of this product
in comparison with other silver-based
ingredients, while reducing the neccessary
application amount by one-half. Because of this
unique glass carrier the plastic will not
discolour anymore, as happened in the past with
other silver additives.
MAKARIELL is usable under all well-known
production-, processing and appli-cation
conditions. Trials have shown, that MAKARIELL
can also be produced with reinforced glass
fibres and glass beads. If desired by the
customer it causes no problems to produce the
material stabilized and coloured.
The additive which is used in MAKARIELL is
registered by the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration for all types of polymers used in
manufacturing, packaging transporting or holding
food, and also owns a registration in the EFSA
Journal ( European Authority for Food Safety )
in Brussels.
Presently MAKARIELL is based on the already
existing products MAKAMID (Polyamid) und MAKALEN
(Polypropylen)The typical thermal and mechanical
properties like stiffness, breaking strenght and
impact strenght maintain still the same with the
antibacterial additiv.

01.06.2006 MAKAMID receives UL-Certification
MAURER Kunststofftechnik GmbH received the
UL-Certification for their PA 6 type MAKAMID BV 270
( UL 94, V2, all colours at 0,8mm ), a high
cristalinity Polyamide 6
for technical injection moulded components.
